Chen Fenwan graduated from the Printmaking Department of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. In 2014, she founded the Wan Studio and currently lives and works in Guangzhou and Foshan. She often combines Chinese folk paper-cutting with contemporary art in her creations and was once hailed by the media as a "top paper-cutting artist of the post-90s generation". Her works take the medium of paper as the creative language, not confined to the boundaries of established carriers and spatial volumes, endowing the works and the Spaces they are in with highly narrative imagination. In her view, paper-cutting is not only a technique but also a concept standing in the present. At the same time, she is skilled at combining delicate individual experiences with public memory, seeking collective emotional resonance in her creations.
